Introducing Stern, a new font by Jim Rimmer |
A veteran of the industry, the New Westminster, B.C.-based typographer has done everything from printing, compositing, typesetting, designing, illustrating, bookbinding, teaching and lithography.
In addition to the many digital fonts Rimmer has designed, he has cut and cast 10 typefaces by hand.
Rimmer named his new typeface after the late printer and artist Christopher Stern of Stern & Faye Letterpress Printers in Sedro-Woolley, Wash.
The making of Stern at Rimmer’s west coast studio, Pie Tree Press & Type Foundry, was filmed for a feature documentary on metal type, slated for release in early 2009. Contact: www.p22.com
