Newfeld pens memoirs

TORONTO—Celebrated designer and illustrator Frank Newfeld can now add author to his long list of accomplishments.
Frank Newfeld's autobiography takes a critical stance on condescending designers

The former vice-president of publishing at McClelland & Stewart and co-founder of the Society of Typographic Designers of Canada (now the Graphic Designers of Canada), best known for his illustrations in the popular children’s book Alligator Soup, has released his autobiography Drawing on Type.

During his illustrious career, Newfeld received over 160 awards and designed over 650 books in Canada, the U.K., Israel and the U.S. He also taught in Sheridan College’s illustration program.

In his memoirs, Newfeld “pulls no punches.” He is frank about his opinions of our school system, children’s book illustrators and critical designers.

A book launch is being held at David Mirvish Books on Sunday October 26. Contact: www.dmbooks.com
