TORONTO — Design Edge Canada columnists Craig Swistun and Bob Atkinson are among the presenters at the upcoming Design City show in Toronto. They will speak Sunday Nov. 23, while the full show runs Nov. 22-24 at the Direct Energy Centre (CNE grounds).
Swistun, who writes the popular “Mind Your Business” column, will speak on a topic close the hearts of Design Edge readers: How to Sell Design. He will be joined by panelists representing large, mid-size and smaller firms: Asif Nasim, Partner and Managing Director, Wickware Communications; James Morris, Principal, James Morris Communications and Brand Strategy; and Barry Martin, Partner, Hypenotic.
Atkinson, who pens the “Tool Tips” hardware and software column, will offer his expertise with a session entitled What’s New in Quark 8. He will focus on how to use Quark 8’s new features to save production time and produce better layouts. New features to be reviewed include:
- extensive contol over trapping text and objects

- quick drag and copy with Alt/Option-Drag
- item styles: save all frame or line specs in a style, the same as type stylesheets
- find and change now support all object attributes
- direct multi-language support
- long-document support (indices, tables of contents, etc.)
This is an essential session for Quark 8 users and those considering an upgrade to version 8.
