DDB’s ECHO program goes online

VANCOUVER—Using an interactive dashboard, DDB Canada is now publicly reporting its internal sustainability and corporate social responsibility program, ECHO, online.

The dashboard provides information on DDB Canada’s goals and initial targets to becoming a more sustainable and responsible agency. It describes new programs for measuring the agency’s carbon footprint, improving procurement, reducing waste, enhancing the experience of staff, and building community investments.

“Despite the economic times, it’s important for companies to be transparent about their CSR commitments. The dashboard is an interactive way to communicate to staff, clients and the business community our program of ongoing change. We want to share it to inspire others,” said Frank Palmer, chairman and CEO of DDB Canada, in a released statement.

DDB Canada’s corporate social responsibility arm Echology developed the ECHO program for all five DDB offices with the help of consultants Junxion Strategy, Canadian Business for Social Responsibility and Pinchin Environmental.

ECHO stands for environmental footprint, community building, human resource practices and opportunities for influence.

“Rather than selecting random targets, we underwent a comprehensive process to benchmark our current performance to understand areas we could improve. The online dashboard is an interactive way to display these targets and other details of our company-wide sustainability strategy,” said Steve Kennedy, managing director of DDB Echology, in a recent agency press release.
