FITC wants women

TORONTO—In an effort to increase female attendance, design and technology festival FITC Toronto is giving away 100 free passes. The contest aims to rectify the fact that females are underrepresented in the digital design and development industries.

"We feel there are some amazing women working in this industry, and want to see them at FITC Toronto 2009," states the contest announcement. Of the 41 presenters currently listed to speak at the Toronto event, only one is female: Ottawa-based Flash developer Stacey Mulcahy of Bitch Who Codes.

To win, women must send in a video post on why they want to attend the festival, which takes place April 25 to 28. The deadline to enter is March 27. Contact: www.fitc.ca/female
