Designers shave heads in solidarity

VICTORIA, B.C.—As designer Peggy Cady begins her fight against breast cancer, Victoria-based firm Suburbia Advertising has created a website where friends can show their support by shaving their head – in Photoshop.

The site, called Friends of Peggy, enables users to upload a photo, alter it to remove their hair and write a personal message to Cady.

It also carries links to cancer agencies where donations can be made to support cancer research.

“It is a simple idea and a wonderful gift," says Cady, who will undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments over the next six months. A former national GDC president from 2004 to 2006, Cady operates her design studio, Cady Graphics, out of Victoria. “I look forward to checking the site every day and appreciate the humour and good wishes from friends and even people I don't know. It gives me a lift every time I look at it, and is a wonderful mix of design solutions.” Contact: www.suburbiaadvertising.com/friendsofpeggy
