BPA Worldwide announces creative house ad contest
CONNECTICUT—BPA Worldwide, an international data auditing company, has announced they’re accepting submissions for their first annual BPA house ad competition. Any publication using the company’s services is eligible to submit an unlimited number of creative house ads, which should promote their BPA membership and the value of audited media. The winner will receive a plaque, a coupon for $1,000 of BPA services and, according to its website, “the envy of your industry peers.”

Contest entrants have until Sept. 30 to submit their high-resolution electronic files in either pdf, gif or jpeg formats to BPAhousead@bpaww.com. All entries are free and will be featured on BPA's website. The winning house ad will be announced on Oct. 9.

“We’re trying to promote the value of audited data,” says Glenn Schutz, manager of communications at BPA Worldwide. “Not even just from BPA services but the fact that audited data is valuable anytime, especially when we’re in this economy where every dollar counts and every marketer needs to be accountable for where their dollars are going.”

No Canadian entries have been submitted so far but the BPA’s Canadian arm, the CCAB, represents more than 300 Canadian publications, ranging from Chickadee to Zoomer. Contact: www.bpaww.com

What a load of crap!
Ooh lucky me i get to be the envy of my peers and a coupon, while BPA gets all this work done on spec for free. Designedge you should be ashamed for pushing this kind of stuff on your website.

Why would anyone enter this? It's basically spec.

Spec work is solicited work done for free. In-house editorial designers and art directors – who work on salary – are designing these posters for the benefit of their individual publications, not for BPA. Recognizing that a number of its members have already designed creative in-house ads promoting the benefits of an audited circulation to its advertisers, BPA decided to run this contest to pick the best one. Publications are welcome to create new in-house ads to enter into this contest, again, presumably done by a design or marketing department on company time as part of its in-house promotional strategy to advertisers.
