STC designs gift guide for St. Michael's Hospital
TORONTO—The St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation 2009 Christmas Gift Catalogue offers an alternate way for people to donate this holiday season. Designed by Toronto-based Scott Thornley and Company, the catalogue displays hospital objects and supplies which donors can buy from air casts to robot instruments presented in an “IKEA inspired” fashion.
“Basically we’re looking for an alternate way for people to support the hospital because not everyone wants to give a straight-up donation,” says Meagan Ross, manager, annual giving at St. Michaels Hospital. “This does double-duty. They get a tax receipt for themselves and also get a nice, specially designed gift card for the recipient. In return, they are helping our patients by giving them new machinery and better care.”
Making these items more accessible was the goal behind the design of the catalogue says Kirk Stephens, vice president and associate creative director at STC. “We wanted to make it so that people can wrap their heads around the idea that almost any dollar amount can benefit the care that St. Michaels provides.”
The festive spirit was brought into the catalogue through the use of cranberry, green and ice blue. Kievit, a sans serif with a clean, modern, approachable look was used throughout the piece. “The client wanted to be direct about it being a holiday piece,” Says Stephens. “You’re not just buying a disposable gift, it will make a difference to someone who needs it.” Contact: Inspiredgiving.unxvision.com, Stcworks.ca
