Brady Dahmer Design creates new site for Variety BC
VANCOUVER—Word of mouth from another charity client led Brady Dahmer Design to work with the B.C. chapter of Variety, a children’s charity. “They liked our vision and philosophy of working with charities,” says Brady Dahmer, principal and founder of BDD.
The objective of the new design was to focus on developing the site for a younger audience. “We wanted to make it fun, friendly and put a lot more faces on it,” says Dahmer. “We’re trying to reach the 25 to 35 year olds without alienating their older demographic.”
Colours chosen for the site had to be both bright and engaging and match the Variety logo’s red and black. “We wanted to get the point across that every dollar goes to supporting people in severe situations,” he says. “Just to bring a general hope and happiness to the site.” The font Arial Rounded was used because it is traditional yet has a softness and friendliness, adds Dahmer.
Dahmer says he and his team had a “blast” designing the site and wound up creating something bigger and better than what they had originally imagined going into the project. BDD donated 20 per cent of its project design fees to Variety. Contact: Bradydahmer.com, Variety.bc.ca
