P22 releases all caps font
BUFFALO, N.Y.—The P22 Type Foundry has introduced a new font, P22 Nudgewink Pro. The font, designed by Robby Woodard was inspired by hand lettering on albums from the late ‘50s, early ‘60s. “I have always liked that style,” says Woodard. “Bouncy, animated, humorous to the point of almost being silly. I started wondering what you could do with OpenType features in the service of that kind of lettering.”
The bold weight family was designed first, then a light weight companion after which he had to create a medium weight third component. “Usually only one or two words are set in a font like this,” he says. “I don’t think I’d ever set paragraphs with Nudgewink, but short sentences work and look like the hand drawn cartoon type on humorous greeting cards.” Contact: P22.com
