Creatives invited to compete for Langara scholarship and Rethink internship
VANCOUVER—To all aspiring designers and art directors: Here's a chance to get the ball rolling in a big way.

Langara College in B.C. and Rethink Communications (with offices in Vancouver and Toronto) are once again teaming up to offer an $18,000 scholarship — full tuition to Langara College’s two-year full-time Communication Arts Program, as well as an internship at Rethink Communications.

Doubling as an inspirational piece, Rethink has developed a video as a call for submissions. The video, created with video projection mixed with papercut puppetry, took six rolls of duct tape, two pairs of tiny fuzzy gloves and eight months to complete:

Those interested are invited to submit a black hardcover sketchbook showcasing their creativity. The winner will be selected by members of Rethink and Langara College, and will be judged according to the following criteria: clarity, relevance, fresh thinking, as well as quality of ideas, craft, and execution. All books must be submitted by September 1, 2012.

“We’ve partnered with Langara College to offer one scholarship per year for their Communication Arts Program,” noted Ian Grais from Rethink (this is the fourth year the scholarship has been offered). “It’s a great way to get free tuition to one of BC’s best design and art direction programs. There’s always a demand for talented people to create new and inspired design.”

Rethink is an agency focusing on online, design and advertising. The Langara College Communication Arts Program is a "contemporary educational approach to the graphic design, art direction, advertising and creative industries."

I think the video really gets you intrigued. It's stuff we do normally but it's done with a computerized twists that's obviously fake and entertaining. Too bad I'm in Winnipeg or I'd try for the scholarship. I'm currently in school already.
